The Old Manse, the barn, and the cottage on its grounds, were bequeathed to us in 1959 by Augusta Lamont, the last of the Knockdow Lamonts, and has been the home of the Clan Lamont Society ever since. The buildings date back to the 1700s, and the Manse itself is grade B listed, which means strict planning restrictions apply. Because of their age, these old buildings require regular maintenance and repair. We ask for donations to be able to fund the necessary maintenance and repair to the buildings.
We are a non profit society. All funds collected are used for:educational grant a shield for the best juvenile solo piper at the Cowal Games organisation of the yearly Clan Lamont Gathering in Dunoon Clan Lamont Society Legal Fees Clan Lamont Society Insurance Fees Clan Lamont Society operational miscellaneous expenses Taxes, insurances, maintenance & repair of the Old Manse property including the old barn and cottage Heating cost of the Lamont room and office at the Old Manse
